Venous thromboembolism: Prevention and Treatment

Professor Anna Falanga was interviewed by PharmaSTar during the Post-Orlando 2019  meeting (News from the American Society for Hematology  – ASH), held in Naples on 13-15 February 2020, where top Italian hematologists summarized the most important new findings presented at the meeting.   Professor Falanga, Head of the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Department and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Health Agency in Bergamo, spoke about one of the hottest topics on the ASH Congress agenda: prophylaxis, treatment of thrombosis, and the possibility of using increasingly low doses of anticoagulants, particularly the direct-action oral ones.  She also dealt with the risk of thrombosis in cancer patients, with interesting data on the syndrome of antiphospholipid antibodies.
